The poem's lines, "Whoever you are, no matter how lonely, the world offers itself to your imagination, calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting—over and over announcing your place in the family of things," resonated deeply with me during a deeply despairing time in my life in which I took to nature as comfort. In those moments, as the sky began to light up, I found solace and connection, which I sought to capture in this painting.
The owl symbolizes wisdom and transformation, while the woods represent a sanctuary for healing and self-discovery. Hollow is a testament to the profound connection between the human spirit and the natural world, capturing a moment of vulnerability and strength.
